They say that things are sweeter the second time around. That includes getting married the second time. Some believe that the second time you appreciate things a little more, you are wiser and you are more mature. One of the most exciting things is planning your second wedding. Many brides and grooms when they plan their first wedding, they wind up having the wedding that their parents actually want to have. So their second wedding becomes the wedding that they would truly like to have.

Brides and grooms of the past were very concerned with tradition when it came to a second wedding. A bride would never wear a white dress and almost never wear a fancy dress for her wedding. It was almost as if the wedding itself was not to be celebrated as much as the first wedding was. This is a true shame, as anytime in your life when you find love should be celebrated just as much as that very first time you find love in your life. For some brides this means putting on a traditional white wedding dress. For other brides it means wearing some other equally elegant and fancy dress. But every couple deserves to celebrate to the hilt, to truly celebrate this union as much as they can.

A lovely idea for your second wedding is to involve your children and extended family in the ceremony. Many second weddings do involve the union of two new families into one larger family. This new union deserves to be celebrated just as much as the couple’s marriage. Some couples have had special family jewelry created for each family member. Other families have chosen to participate in their own special way in the ceremony. It is important to put your own personal touch on the ceremony that the family will enjoy and remember and have this be meaningful. Even if it is not what everyone else would do – if it is something that has great meaning for your family then this is the ideal thing to do.

So a second wedding is the perfect time to express your love and your personal style. Couples getting married for the second time often have more disposable income than couples getting married for the first time, so they are able to have a more fancy and elegant affair than their first marriage was. More importantly they are able to truly have their say in what they would like and what they would not like at the wedding. Whereas their parents may have been footing the bill for the first wedding, at this wedding they will be taking care of all arrangements. A second wedding should truly be celebrated as much as possible – finding love is always a special occasion!
