Sometimes when brides or grooms are planning a wedding – they have a change of heart. There are many reasons they can decide not to get married. They may not be emotionally ready to get married. They may be in love with someone else. Or perhaps they simply cannot afford the cost of a wedding right now and they need to wait an additional year. But when you are changing your mind about holding your wedding there are so many people involved. It is important to handle things properly so they run smoothly.

The first thing to do is to decide what you are going to tell people. If you are not getting married because you have decided that you are not in love with this person, this may be a too personal reason to tell three hundred people why the wedding is cancelled. Or there may be another reason that you are canceling the wedding that is equally personal that you do not want to share. You and your former fiancé need to come to some sort of agreement about what you will say to the wedding guests when you cancel the wedding. You want to have something simple and neat where there is little question why you are not getting married. It is equally helpful if the two of you are saying the very same thing. So if you can come to some agreement it will be helpful if the two of you can same the same reason why the two of you have not held this wedding.

The next thing to do is to cancel all of your vendors for the wedding. This is very important. Canceling the vendors may be hard and it may cost you money. Most vendors will have you sign contracts where you wind up paying a portion of the fee even if you do cancel the arrangement. But still you must cancel all of your wedding vendor contracts. Be polite and businesslike. Do not keep vendors on the telephone telling them why you are not getting married. For you the wedding is personal but for them the wedding is strictly business. Keep the information of the wedding vendors that you like because you may need to use it for your next wedding.

Another wonderful idea is to plan some type of party or get-to-gether for your friends to socialize. While you may feel let down and depressed about not having your wedding, it is important for you not to hide from your feelings. You need to be surrounded by your friends, family and people that love you.
